Signs of ADHD in Adults
Overview
While ADHD is often associated with children, many adults experience symptoms that were never recognised in earlier life. Adult ADHD can significantly impact work, relationships, and mental wellbeing.
Common Signs of ADHD in Adults:
- Chronic disorganisation (missed appointments, losing items, cluttered workspaces)
- Difficulty with sustained attention (in meetings, reading, or completing tasks)
- Restlessness or mental hyperactivity
- Impulsivity (interrupting, risky decisions, emotional outbursts)
- Time blindness (underestimating how long tasks will take or always running late)
- Frequent mood changes or low frustration tolerance
Adults with ADHD often compensate well — especially if they’re intelligent or driven — but it can come at the cost of burnout or emotional fatigue.
